Summary
- Mercedes-Benz introduces advanced driver-assistance system for US cities.
- The system enables supervised autonomous driving on city streets.
- It will cost $3,950 for three years of service in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz announced its new advanced driver-assistance system, MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO, will be available in the United States by the end of 2026. This innovative technology allows vehicles to navigate city streets autonomously, including intersections and turns, while drivers remain supervised and ready to intervene.
The system, already operational in China since late last year, is priced at $3,950 for a three-year service period in the U.S. This move challenges Tesla's existing Full Self-Driving system, which is currently the only similar offering for city streets, highlighting advancements in autonomous technology moving towards commercial rollout.
Mercedes' system utilizes approximately 30 sensors and powerful onboard computing, with support for over-the-air updates. While full autonomy is still constrained by safety and regulation, this development signifies a significant step in integrating sophisticated software and AI into personal vehicles for urban driving.
