Mercedes Unleashes Electric Beast: 1,153 HP AMG GT

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe signifies the arrival of ultra-high performance electric vehicles from the German automaker. This new super sedan leverages technology from a concept that achieved a significant endurance record. It is engineered to compete with hypercars, featuring three axial flux motors from Mercedes subsidiary YASA, delivering up to 1,153 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque.

Its advanced high-performance battery utilizes a unique cooling system inspired by Formula 1, employing a non-conductive oil to directly cool individual cylindrical cells. This system provides substantial cooling power, theoretically preventing overheating even during repeated intense use. The vehicle operates on an 800-volt architecture supporting ultra-fast charging up to 600 kW.

This rapid charging capability allows the AMG GT 4-door coupe to reach 80 percent charge from 10 percent in just 11 minutes. The EV can adapt between 800V and 400V systems and supports multiple global DC charging standards. Mercedes is also incorporating over 1,600 sound files to simulate engine notes and other traditional sounds for a more engaging experience for race enthusiasts.

The vehicle's central processing is managed by the AMG Race Engineer Core within the new MB.OS operating system, controlling all functions from driving to battery cooling. Inside, occupants are greeted by three screens under a continuous glass surface: a 10.2-inch driver display, a 14-inch central multimedia screen, and a 14-inch passenger display. Pricing is unreleased, but the GT 55 is slated for late 2026, with the GT 63 following in early 2027.
