Marines Swap Manual Reports for AI
24 Jun
Summary
- AI-enabled reporting platform ODIN replaces manual SITREPs next month.
- ODIN automates data flow from tactical edge to decision makers.
- The system aligns reporting with Joint Staff data requirements.

Starting July 7, the Marine Corps will adopt the Operational Data Integration Nexus (ODIN), an AI-enabled reporting platform. This new system replaces the current manual process for Situational Reports (SITREPs) and after-action reviews, which is time-consuming and slows decision-making.
ODIN operates within the Pentagon's Maven Smart System (MSS), an AI and data platform designed to aggregate and analyze operational information. The system will automate the flow of data from the tactical edge to strategic decision-makers, reducing administrative burdens and enhancing data sharing across units. Marines will input structured data points, which AI tools will automatically compile into a centralized dashboard for commanders.
Marine officials stated that this shift is crucial for equipping Marines with near real-time information needed to outpace adversaries. The service finalized its partnership with Palantir Technologies for Maven last August. The Army also began integrating Maven into its command-and-control training earlier this year.
