The Lumia 2 smart earrings, described as the world's smallest wellness wearable, discreetly monitor over 20 health metrics. Originally developed with researchers from top universities to aid patients with chronic blood flow disorders, the device is now available following a highly successful Kickstarter launch.

The innovative earrings, about the size of a coffee bean, track vital signs like heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep patterns, and critically, blood flow. This technology was inspired by a need to prevent serious injuries caused by inadequate blood flow.

Launched on Kickstarter, the Lumia 2 campaign surpassed its $10,000 goal, raising over $800,000. The device features miniaturized biosensing technology and swappable batteries, ensuring continuous data collection without interruption.

Available in multiple designs, the Lumia 2 places sensors near the ear, aiming for a stronger, more consistent signal than wrist-based devices. Its swappable battery system allows for uninterrupted tracking, particularly during sleep, a common time for charging other wearables.

Data privacy is addressed through encryption and anonymization, with options for users to contribute de-identified data to research. The Lumia 2 is priced at a base of $249, with additional costs for designs and a required monthly membership ranging from $10 to $20. Beta shipments are scheduled for September, with full delivery expected in December.
