6 Jan
Summary
- Lucid, Nuro, and Uber revealed their robotaxi at CES.
- On-road testing began in December using prototype vehicles.
- The robotaxi will launch in San Francisco later this year.

At the CES technology conference, Lucid Group, Nuro, and Uber jointly unveiled a production-intent robotaxi, signaling a major advancement in autonomous vehicle commercialization. This collaboration places the trio among leading companies pursuing large-scale robotaxi services across the United States.
On-road testing, led by Nuro with safety operators, began in December using engineering prototypes. The goal is to launch robotaxi services in the San Francisco Bay Area later this year. This rigorous testing involves real-world driving, closed-course trials, and simulations to ensure safety before commercial operations commence.
Production of the robotaxi is slated to start later this year at Lucid's Arizona facility, pending final validation. The vehicle integrates Lucid's Gravity electric SUV platform, Nuro's Level 4 autonomous system, and Nvidia's DRIVE AGX Thor computing. Uber will serve as the platform partner, integrating these autonomous vehicles into its app.
