Vermont-based Lens Lizard has introduced an innovative solution for drivers tired of obscured backup cameras. The Lens Lizard system is an upgrade kit designed to remotely clean your car's backup camera, tackling issues caused by snow, ice, or dirt roads. This aftermarket addition aims to eliminate the frequent need for manual cleaning, enhancing visibility year-round.
The Lens Lizard is currently available for preorder through a Kickstarter campaign for $99, with full retail pricing expected to be around $149. Shipping is slated to commence in April 2026. While backup cameras have been mandated on new vehicles since 2018, integrated cleaning systems remain uncommon and costly, often appearing only on higher trim packages.
Designed for compatibility with most North American vehicles, the Lens Lizard installs behind the license plate using existing screws. It features a refillable wiper fluid reservoir and a high-pressure pump, remotely triggered by a Bluetooth remote. The battery and reservoir are designed to last four to six months between refills and charges, depending on usage.
