Lenovo's AI Robot: Your New Office Workmate?
2 Mar
Summary
- AI Workmate Concept robot integrates voice commands and LLMs.
- Projects documents and images onto desks or walls.
- AI Work Companion is a desk clock syncing tasks and schedules.

At MWC 2026, Lenovo introduced the AI Workmate Concept, a robot powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor and 64GB of memory. This AI-integrated 'workmate' is designed to enhance office efficiency and collaboration through voice commands and large language models. It sits on a desk and can process written input, voice, and gestures with its on-device AI. The robot's 3.4-inch LCD face displays expressions, adding a personable touch to its functionality.
The AI Workmate Concept can project documents and images using an integrated Pico projector, either onto the desk surface or a nearby wall. This feature aims to simplify sharing information with colleagues without needing to reposition monitors. Examples shown included projecting a postcard image and scanning a signed document for printing, hinting at potential applications in digital signing and file annotation.
Lenovo also presented the AI Work Companion Concept, a distinct device from the Workmate robot. This is a desk clock with a display for calendars and task lists, running independently and acting as a port hub. Its AI features include a 'Thought Bubble' that synthesizes daily action plans, suggests work breaks, and monitors screen time to prevent burnout.
Both concepts represent Lenovo's exploration of spatial and physical AI experiences for professional environments. While the AI Workmate Concept offers advanced robotic interaction, the AI Work Companion provides a more streamlined approach to AI-assisted productivity through a familiar desk accessory. Further development might introduce less noisy interaction methods for the robot.
