A new contender in the film photography resurgence has arrived with the Kodak Snapic A1, a 35mm camera from Hong Kong-based Reto. Priced at $99 and shipping next week, this camera aims to make film photography accessible. Its design features a simple plastic housing in rhino gray or ivory white, reminiscent of disposable cameras, but it offers more creative control.
The Snapic A1 is equipped with a three-element 25mm glass lens with a fixed f/9.5 aperture and a shutter speed of 1/100 second. It includes a built-in flash with red-eye reduction, designed to activate automatically in low light. For creative enthusiasts, a unique double exposure switch allows for layering two images onto a single frame, eliminating the need for digital editing.
Users can choose between two focus zones: one for close-ups (0.5-1.5 meters) and another for general use. Battery life is rated for up to 10 rolls of film, tracked via a small OLED display that also shows remaining shots and focus mode. Unlike some previous releases, customers can select their preferred color option for the Snapic A1.
