The all-new Kia Seltos has been awarded a coveted five-star safety rating under India's Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). This achievement underscores Kia's dedication to enhancing vehicle safety within the Indian market.
The Seltos recorded impressive scores, obtaining 31.70 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. These figures contribute to a combined score of 76.70 points, making it the leading internal combustion engine vehicle evaluated by Bharat NCAP and setting a new standard for ICE vehicle safety in India.
In rigorous crash tests, the SUV demonstrated exceptional performance. It achieved high marks in both frontal offset and side movable barrier tests. Driver protection received 'good' ratings for critical areas like head and chest, with 'adequate' for others, and an 'OK' in side pole impact.
Child safety was also a strong point, with full marks in dynamic testing and child restraint system installation. Dummies representing young children showed excellent protection in both frontal and side crashes. This comprehensive safety performance is supported by the Kia K3 platform's structural integrity, utilizing reinforced steel components.
The Seltos is now Kia's second model to earn a five-star Bharat NCAP rating, following the Kia Syros. Its superior overall score surpasses rivals like the Tata Sierra and Maruti Suzuki Victoris, positioning it as a top-tier SUV in its segment under the official Indian crash test program.
