2 Apr
Summary
- Kia EV3 electric car launching in the U.S. by end of 2026.
- Offers two battery options and vehicle-to-home charging.
- Expected to compete with Bolt and Leaf at an estimated $35,000.

The Kia EV3, a highly anticipated small electric vehicle, is set to launch in the U.S. by the end of 2026. This move comes after some delays, influenced by shifts in federal tax credits for electric cars. The EV3 will compete directly with models like the Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf.
Two battery configurations will be available: a standard 58.3 kWh and a long-range 81.4 kWh. The larger battery is expected to offer an EPA-estimated range of up to 320 miles. A performance-oriented GT model with 288 horsepower will also be offered. All versions will include a native NACS charge port.
Key features include vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) capabilities, allowing the car to power external devices or even a home during outages. Despite not having the 800-volt architecture of Kia's larger EVs, the EV3 can fast-charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
Inside, the EV3 boasts dual 12.3-inch displays and supports streaming services like Netflix and YouTube via the Kia Connect app. While pricing is unconfirmed, estimates suggest a starting point around $35,000, potentially positioning it as a compelling option with more cargo space and available all-wheel drive compared to rivals.
