22 Apr
Summary
- ISS crew will use HP ZBook G9 Mobile Workstations.
- Laptops feature advanced Intel and Nvidia components for space.
- Custom power adapters enable Earth and ISS compatibility.

The crew of Expedition 74 aboard the International Space Station (ISS) is set to receive advanced computing capabilities with the introduction of new HP ZBook G9 Mobile Workstations. These custom-configured laptops are engineered for the demanding environment of space.
The HP ZBook Fury G9 for the ISS boasts impressive specifications, including an Intel Core Ultra 9 vPro HX processor and an Nvidia RTX Pro Blackwell GPU. Astronauts will benefit from 128GB of DDR5 memory and four 2TB NVMe SSDs for ample processing power and storage.
A critical adaptation for the space environment is the 'NASA-exclusive' power adapter. This custom design allows the workstations to operate on the ISS's direct current (DC) power system, unlike standard AC adapters used on Earth. HP currently has over 100 workstations and specialized printers operating on the ISS.
These 35 new HP ZBook Fury G9 laptops represent the third generation of HP computing platforms deployed on the station. The ISS is scheduled for de-orbiting in 2030, suggesting these upgrades are among the final major tech refreshes for the aging space laboratory.
