iPhone Duo: Foldable phone, missing Pro features?
12 Sep
Summary
- The iPhone Duo offers a 5.4-inch phone and 7.6-inch tablet.
- It lacks Face ID, telephoto zoom, and variable aperture.
- The Action Button and Pro camera controls are also absent.

Apple has introduced the iPhone Duo, a foldable device that offers both a compact 5.4-inch phone and a larger 7.6-inch tablet display.
However, the Duo notably sacrifices several features compared to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Instead of Face ID, it utilizes a side-button Touch ID, a departure from Apple's recent high-end models and rival devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The camera system on the Duo is also simplified, featuring only a 48MP main and a 48MP ultrawide lens, omitting the telephoto zoom found on the 18 Pro. It also lacks the new variable aperture system and advanced Pro controls introduced with the 18 Pro models, such as manual white balance, shutter speed adjustment, and exposure monitoring.
Further missing from the iPhone Duo are advanced shooting capabilities like ProRAW and ProRes RAW, the ability to capture spatial photos and videos, and the customizable Action Button, which is present even on lower-tier models. These omissions suggest a focus on the foldable form factor over cutting-edge camera technology.
