28 Sep
Summary

- It uses the foldable Duo's dual screens for music selection and playback.
- The app incorporates authentic Walkman sounds for a nostalgic feel.
A novel application, Duo-Man, is set to launch for the forthcoming iPhone Duo, replicating the nostalgic experience of using a classic Walkman. Developed by Vidit Bhargava, the app ingeniously utilizes the Duo's unique foldable design, employing its two screens to simulate the process of selecting music and inserting cassette tapes. Once the virtual tape is loaded, the device is closed to begin playback, mirroring the original Walkman functionality.
To enhance the authentic retro feel, Bhargava has integrated recorded sounds from a real Walkman, including button clicks and static. This project originated from a hackathon where it secured second place, gaining significant attention online. The positive reception has motivated Bhargava to develop Duo-Man into a full-fledged application. Future updates are planned to include support for Apple Music and local music files, with potential for Spotify integration later on. Additionally, a unique feature will allow users to interact with the cassette tape loop using an Apple Pencil.
