iPhone 18 Pro: New Colors May Fade Fast
12 Jun
Summary
- iPhone 17 Pro models showed color fading issues.
- iPhone 18 Pro may inherit the same aluminum chassis.
- Fragility and scratching are also potential concerns.
The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro may repeat a color-related issue that affected the iPhone 17 Pro. Users of the iPhone 17 Pro reported that some colors, particularly Cosmic Orange, began to fade or change hue, sometimes appearing pink. This problem is concerning because the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to utilize the same aluminum chassis as its predecessor.
This shared material raises fears of the color fading problem persisting. Beyond aesthetics, the aluminum construction of the iPhone 17 Pro was also found to be more susceptible to dents and scratches from minor impacts compared to previous titanium models. It is possible the iPhone 18 Pro could exhibit similar fragility.
While not all iPhone 17 Pro units experienced these issues, the recurring problems suggest a potential design flaw. Apple might be developing fixes, similar to adjustments made for rear glass colors. However, the fate of the new Dark Cherry color, if it is prone to fading, remains uncertain, potentially impacting the perceived value of the iPhone 18 Pro.
