iPhone 18 Pro: A20 Pro Chip Crushes Benchmarks

Apple's latest mobile silicon, the A20 Pro, is powering the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. This chip, built on a 2nm process, features a 6-core CPU with distinct super and efficiency cores, a 7-core GPU, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine for advanced AI processing. Early synthetic benchmark tests indicate that this new chip significantly outperforms current industry standards.

The iPhone 18 Pro achieved remarkable scores in Geekbench 7, with 3,959 in single-core CPU, 10,854 in multi-core CPU, and an impressive 61,194 in the GPU test. These results place it substantially ahead of competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Google's Pixel 11 Pro XL. Performance comparisons on Geekbench 6 further solidify the A20 Pro's lead.

Compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the iPhone 18 Pro shows approximately a 25 percent performance increase across benchmarks. While this translates to undeniable speed, the real-world impact may vary depending on user habits and device age. The A20 Pro chip will also be integrated into the forthcoming iPhone Duo, a foldable device, with its performance expected next month.

It is worth noting that the A20 Pro chip also powers the upcoming iPhone Duo. The performance of this foldable device, leveraging the same advanced chip, is keenly awaited, especially given its unique form factor and display. Initial assessments confirm Apple's continued reign in mobile processing power, particularly in synthetic benchmarks.
