iPhone 18 Prices Flat Amidst Samsung Hikes?
29 Jan
Summary
- Samsung may increase Galaxy S26 prices due to rising memory costs.
- Apple might absorb costs to keep iPhone 18 prices steady.
- Galaxy S26 Ultra could see a price decrease compared to its predecessor.

Samsung is reportedly preparing to increase the prices of its forthcoming Galaxy S26 smartphone series. This anticipated price hike, particularly for the base model, is attributed to the rising costs of RAM and flash memory. For instance, the Galaxy S26 base model could see a starting price increase of nearly €200, though it's expected to double the storage to 256GB.
In contrast, Apple appears poised to maintain stable pricing for its iPhone 18 series. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple may absorb increased component costs to bolster its market share. This strategy would mean the iPhone 18 starting at $799, the iPhone 18 Pro at $1,099, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,199.
While most Samsung models face potential price increases, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is an exception, with its starting price expected to be nearly €100 less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is anticipated to launch on February 25, offering clarity on these pricing strategies.
