9 Sep
Summary
- iPhone 17 prices rose significantly in India post-iPhone 18 series launch.
- The 256GB iPhone 17 now costs Rs 99,900, a 20% increase.
- Global chip costs and currency fluctuations contributed to the price hike.

Apple has revised the pricing for the iPhone 17 in India following the recent launch of its latest iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the inaugural foldable iPhone Duo. The 256GB iPhone 17 now commands a price of Rs 99,900, a considerable increase from its initial launch price of Rs 82,900 last year. Similarly, the 512GB variant has seen a rise to Rs 1,24,900 from Rs 1,02,900.
This price adjustment, affecting the 256GB model by approximately 20% and the 512GB by around 21%, is a common strategy by Apple. It ensures a consistent price hierarchy between older and newer models, preventing significant price overlaps. Industry-wide factors like escalating global memory chip prices, including RAM and storage, and currency exchange rates between the Indian Rupee and the US Dollar are contributing factors.
The newly introduced iPhone 18 Pro features the A20 Pro chip, a 48MP Fusion Main camera, and an enhanced Dynamic Island. The iPhone 18 Pro Max shares these advancements while offering Apple's largest battery life increase to date. Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, also utilizes the A20 Pro chip and boasts a 7.6-inch display when unfolded.
With these revisions, the iPhone price spectrum in India now ranges from the iPhone 17 at Rs 99,900 for 256GB, up to the iPhone Duo at Rs 2,99,900. The narrowed price gap between the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 18 Pro might encourage some buyers to opt for the newer Pro model, considering its advanced features. Consumers seeking the iPhone 17 at its original price point must now account for an additional Rs 17,000 to Rs 22,000.
