6 Dec
Summary
- iPhone 17 doubles storage to 256GB for the same $829 price.
- The iPhone 17 boasts a larger 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Both phones gain AI features, but iPhone 17 offers longer battery life.

Apple has released the iPhone 17, starting at $829, a price point identical to the iPhone 16's launch. However, the iPhone 17 significantly enhances the base model by including 256GB of storage, twice that of the iPhone 16's 128GB. This upgrade offers users more space from the outset.
The display on the iPhone 17 receives notable improvements, expanding to 6.3 inches with significantly reduced borders and a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals and an always-on capability. The Ceramic Shield 2 cover offers enhanced scratch resistance, and the screen achieves a 3,000-nit peak brightness, making it more visible in sunlight. Camera upgrades include a 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor and an 18-megapixel front camera with a new Center Stage feature.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is powered by the A19 chip, an improvement over the A18 in the iPhone 16. Battery life sees a jump, with Apple citing up to 30 hours of video playback compared to 22 hours for the iPhone 16. Both devices will support the new suite of Apple Intelligence AI capabilities, and a new iOS 26 feature will help conserve battery on both models.
