Summary
- iOS 27 and Siri AI launch on Monday, September 14.
- Siri AI requires iPhone 15 Pro or newer for support.
- New OS features include Liquid Glass design and child safety.
iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 are set to be released on Monday, September 14, marking a significant upgrade from Apple. The most anticipated feature is the debut of Siri AI, a revamped digital assistant. Apple collaborated with Google, utilizing Gemini models for Siri AI's training, which has demonstrated capability in handling complex questions and multi-step commands during early testing.
However, access to Siri AI is restricted to newer devices. Support begins with the 2023 iPhone 15 Pro, excluding older models. Furthermore, the latest iPhones, starting from last year's iPhone 17 series, offer an optimized experience. These devices benefit from an advanced on-device model for superior speech recognition and dictation. iPad users will find Siri AI support on the latest iPad mini and M1 chip or newer iPad Air and Pro models.
Beyond Siri AI, iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 introduce refinements to Apple's Liquid Glass design language and new child safety measures. Performance improvements are also promised across the operating systems. While not officially confirmed, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and watchOS 27 are expected to launch on the same day as iOS 27.
