Foldable Phone Case Quirk: iOS 27 Adds a 'Shift Left'!
14 Sep
Summary
- iOS 27 introduces a 'Shift Left Edge' software setting.
- This feature adjusts content for cases that partially cover the outer display's left edge.
- The iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999, launches October 23rd.
Apple has integrated a hidden software adjustment into iOS 27, named 'Shift Left Edge,' to assist users with cases on its new foldable phone.
This feature is specifically designed for situations where a phone case might partially cover the left edge of the iPhone Duo's outer display. Enabling it thickens the left-hand border, creating more space for the case to grip without obscuring the screen content.
It remains uncertain if Apple's own accessories for the iPhone Duo will necessitate this setting, or if it's primarily for third-party options. The iPhone Duo is scheduled for release next month, with preorders beginning October 16th and the official launch on October 23rd.
The device starts at a price of $1,999 and goes up to $3,199 for the 2TB configuration. Its iOS 27 operating system will feature new multi-display interactions, including placing frequently used apps closer to the thumb on the right-hand side of the dock.
