Summary
- Genmoji receives quality improvements and user control.
- Users can now swipe away the 'Now Playing' widget on the lock screen.
- Separate volume controls for alarms are a highly anticipated addition.

While Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote focused heavily on Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, the subsequent release of the iOS 27 developer beta has unveiled a host of features that were not detailed during the presentation. These additions promise a more refined user experience ahead of the anticipated September rollout.
Significant enhancements include Genmoji, which will offer improved quality and greater user control over creation. Lock screen management is also getting an update, allowing users to swipe away the 'Now Playing' widget, similar to Android's notification dismissal. The introduction of extra-large widgets suggests potential future hardware developments, possibly hinting at a foldable iPhone.
Further discovered features include dual phone number support across iPhones and dual-camera capabilities in FaceTime. Speed improvements for AirPlay and AirDrop are expected, alongside a new drawing app within Messages. A highly requested feature, separate volume controls for alarms, will finally arrive, along with Markdown support in Notes.
The Health app will gain dedicated support for perimenopause and menopause tracking. Apple Music sees minor tweaks, including redesigned artist pages and an enhanced AutoMix feature for AI-generated transitions. The Photos app is gaining the ability to create slideshows from any photos and videos, with customizable duration, transitions, and music options.
Privacy and convenience are also addressed, with options to hide one's location in Find My without notification. AirPods settings are redesigned, and alarms can be temporarily disabled during holidays. Hidden code even suggests that Siri AI might prompt users to take breaks after extended conversations, though this feature is not yet active.
