Apple Patches Critical Flaws in iOS 26.6.1 Update

Apple has issued an urgent security update, iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1, released on August 17, 2026. These patches are critical for addressing a range of vulnerabilities affecting core system components.
Key areas of concern include Audio, where a flaw could leak sensitive user information, and ImageIO, which had vulnerabilities allowing for denial-of-service or arbitrary code execution. The IOGPUFamily and Kernel also saw fixes for memory corruption and unexpected system termination issues.
Furthermore, a Telephony vulnerability could have enabled network traffic interception. Multiple WebKit vulnerabilities were also resolved, preventing issues like Safari crashes.
These important security fixes are available for iPhone 11 and newer models, along with several iPad generations. Apple first made these patches available in the iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 betas.
