Instagram Comments Get Edit Button: Fix Mistakes Now!
10 Apr
Summary
- Users can now edit comments within 15 minutes of posting.
- Only text within comments is editable; images and GIFs cannot be.
- Edited comments will show they were modified, but not the old version.

Instagram has finally introduced a comment editing feature, enabling users to rectify errors or alter their wording shortly after publication. This functionality, announced on Thursday, provides a 15-minute window post-comment for users to make modifications as many times as needed. To use it, simply tap 'Edit' below your comment and save your changes.
The feature allows for text edits exclusively. Any photos, GIFs, or stickers accompanying a comment remain unchangeable. While edited comments will be flagged as modified, previous versions will not be publicly displayed, offering a transparent yet uncluttered view of the conversation. This gradual rollout means not all users will have immediate access worldwide.
This enhancement brings Instagram's user experience closer to platforms like Threads and Messenger, which already offer message editing. X, formerly Twitter, provides this capability only to paid subscribers. The rollout, initially flagged in March 2026, has received positive online reactions, with many users questioning the delay.
