This innovative technique was featured in the Lenovo Legion R9000P, a new laptop with a 16-inch OLED display made in China. Unlike conventional thermal evaporation methods that use fine metal masks and are material-intensive, TCL's inkjet printing (IJP) offers a more efficient and economical alternative.
Further demonstrating the potential of this technology, MSI has unveiled a 27-inch 4K monitor, the MSI PRO MAX OLED 271UPJW12, also produced using IJP. This monitor boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and high brightness. TCL has been developing inkjet OLED technology for over a decade, with recent breakthroughs in 2024 promising enhanced image quality and display lifespan. This advancement could position TCL to compete more directly with established display manufacturers like Samsung and LG in the smaller screen markets, potentially paving the way for more affordable OLED TVs in the future.
