India's High-Speed Rail Testing Track Nears Completion

India's first dedicated high-speed test track, a Rs 967.07-crore project located in Rajasthan, is nearing its final completion stages.

The 59-km broad-gauge facility, situated near Jaipur, is designed to test various rolling stock and railway equipment. It features multiple specialized loops, including a high-speed loop and an accelerated testing loop.

Key sections of the track, such as the high-speed stretch and accelerated loop, are expected to be ready by September 2026. The curve testing loop at Mithri is slated for completion by the end of 2026.

Testing operations for Vande Bharat trainsets and other rolling stock are projected to begin by the 2027-28 financial year. The track will also evaluate track materials, bridges, signalling systems, and geotechnical parameters.

This state-of-the-art facility aims to meet international standards, enabling comprehensive testing and accelerating the adoption of new railway technologies in India.
