23 Dec
Summary
- First dedicated high-speed test track by Indian Railways to be ready by FY 2025-26.
- The 64 km track in Rajasthan supports speeds up to 220 kmph for rolling stock trials.
- An additional 25 km railway section is being doubled to ease congestion and boost connectivity.

Indian Railways is nearing the completion of its first dedicated high-speed test track, anticipated to be fully operational by the end of the 2025-26 financial year. This pioneering facility, developed by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) in Rajasthan, represents a significant investment in advancing railway technology and safety. The track is designed to support train speeds of up to 220 kmph, providing a crucial environment for high-speed trials and independent rolling stock evaluations.
The 64-kilometer corridor is being constructed between Gudha and Thathana Mithri in the Jodhpur Division, with approximately 58 kilometers already completed as of the current reporting period. The project's completion deadline is set for March 2026. Once operational, this dedicated track will streamline the testing and approval processes for new rolling stock and innovative railway technologies, ultimately contributing to improved safety standards across the network.
