In a significant development, the Indian Army has revealed the use of its indigenously developed secure mobile ecosystem, SAMBHAV (Secure Army Mobile Bharat Version), during Operation Sindoor. According to Chief of the Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi, SAMBHAV, built on 5G technology, offers secure communication with multi-layered encryption, replacing platforms like WhatsApp.
Gen Dwivedi confirmed that the Army is now preparing for an upgrade to SAMBHAV, stating, "We are ready for accepting spiral development of equipment. SAMBHAV phone was used in Operation Sindoor for command and communication. We were not using WhatsApp and others. We are now upgrading it to a higher level."
The Army chief described Operation Sindoor as "an amalgam of soldiers to commanders, scientists, great policymakers; required actions taken in a pre-emptive manner... It was a whole-of-nation approach." Earlier, he had emphasized that future conflicts would demand a blend of conventional strength and modern capabilities, where "boots must share space with bots."
