Asia's First Vera Rubin AI Chips Land in India

AM Intelligence (AMI), an AI infrastructure venture founded by Greenko's promoters, has secured an order for 9,000 Nvidia Vera Rubin chips, positioning Asia at the forefront of advanced AI technology. The Hyderabad-based project is the initial phase of AMI's ambitious 1 GW compute-as-a-service capacity goal.

The company plans to deploy 200 MW within the next 18 months, representing an $8 billion capital expenditure. Servers in India and Malaysia are slated for operation by next year, followed by expansions into Finland and the US in 2028. AMI aims for a global data center capacity of 5 GW.

AMI is finalizing $1.5 billion in financing from Japanese banks for GPU acquisition and is concurrently raising $1.5 billion in equity through Morgan Stanley. This funding strategy, combining debt, equity, and customer financing, will support the development of data centers and compute clusters.

The venture targets global AI-native customers, leveraging Greenko's expertise in large-scale renewable energy assets. This integration of energy infrastructure with AI capabilities, described as a value chain from "electrons to tokens," aims to provide advanced AI model training and inference services.

Nvidia's Vera Rubin chips represent a significant leap in AI processing power, with global demand leading to multiyear backlogs. AMI's early adoption underscores India's growing role in the global AI hardware landscape, distinguishing it from previous deployments focused on Hopper and Blackwell systems.
