17 Feb
Summary
- India poised to drive nearly 20% of global GDP growth in 15 years.
- 16% of world's AI talent is of Indian origin, report states.
- AI can be integrated across sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and education.

India is poised to contribute nearly 20% of the world's incremental GDP growth over the next 15 years. This expansion will hinge on large-scale institutional adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), according to a report launched at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. India's significant pool of AI talent, representing 16% of the global total, positions it as a potential model for responsible AI implementation across emerging economies.
The white paper, "AI for All: Catalysing Jobs, Growth, and Opportunity," outlines embedding AI into core workflows across key sectors. In healthcare, AI diagnostics can alleviate pressure on a strained system. For agriculture, AI-driven crop planning can reduce substantial post-harvest losses. Education, manufacturing, and financial services also present significant opportunities for AI-driven productivity gains and enhanced competitiveness.
AI is framed not as a job displacer, but as a net employment generator, creating new roles in data operations, supervision, and advisory services. This reframes AI as a catalyst for productivity-led growth, aligning with India's Viksit Bharat 2047 ambition. The successful institutionalization of AI, linking it explicitly to outcomes and redesigning value chains, is identified as the next critical challenge for realizing its full potential.
