The company has stated that the breach was strictly confined to employment records and did not extend to any customer data, connected-vehicle technologies, or the millions of vehicles Hyundai supports. Despite initial reports suggesting a much larger impact, Hyundai AutoEver clarified that the 2.7 million figure often cited pertains to supported vehicles, not individuals affected by the breach.
