- Hackers compromised Hyundai AutoEver America systems from February 22 to March 2, 2025.

- The breach impacted employment data, not customer or connected vehicle information.

Hyundai AutoEver America, an IT services provider for Hyundai Motor America, confirmed a data breach that occurred between February 22 and March 2, 2025. The intrusion led to the compromise of employment-related data, primarily affecting about 2,000 current and former employees. Sensitive information such as names, Social Security numbers, and driver's license numbers were exposed, posing a risk of identity theft.
The company has stated that the breach was strictly confined to employment records and did not extend to any customer data, connected-vehicle technologies, or the millions of vehicles Hyundai supports. Despite initial reports suggesting a much larger impact, Hyundai AutoEver clarified that the 2.7 million figure often cited pertains to supported vehicles, not individuals affected by the breach.
Following the incident, Hyundai AutoEver America notified law enforcement and engaged cybersecurity experts. They have advised affected individuals to take protective measures such as placing fraud alerts with credit bureaus and securing online accounts. The incident underscores the vulnerability of IT systems supporting automotive operations and the importance of safeguarding employee data.
