HPE Offers Free Year of VM Software to Lure VMware Users
16 Jun
Summary
- HPE provides one year of free VM Essentials licenses.
- A $1 license for HPE Zerto migration software is available.
- This initiative targets customers affected by VMware price increases.

HPE has introduced a campaign designed to attract customers dissatisfied with VMware's pricing and services post-Broadcom acquisition. Announced at HPE Discovery 2026 in Las Vegas, the initiative addresses the significant cost barrier organizations face when attempting to migrate away from VMware.
Under this program, eligible customers will receive a complimentary one-year license for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials. This offer aims to mitigate the 'double-bubble cost problem,' where users might otherwise pay for two subscriptions simultaneously during a transition. Furthermore, a special $1 license is available for HPE Zerto migration software, facilitating a smoother move.
This move by HPE directly challenges the increased costs and removal of legacy licensing options that have impacted companies since Broadcom's takeover. Data indicates that 86% of VMware customers are considering relocation, with 85% citing rising prices as a primary concern.
In parallel, HPE announced the unification of its partner programs with those of Juniper Networks, effective November 1. This consolidation aims to provide partners with a single point of access for reselling networking, cloud, and AI services.
