HP has introduced the EliteBook 6 G2q, an ultraslim laptop designed for AI tasks, featuring Snapdragon X Elite or X2 Plus processors capable of 85 TOPS. This device promises always-connected experiences through its HP Go 5G service, advertised as offering unlimited 5G data. However, the service comes with substantial limitations.
Access to HP Go 5G is restricted to compatible commercial PCs running Windows 11, equipped with specific WWAN 5G modules and preinstalled eSIMs. The service is currently limited to the United States, with international users needing to visit the U.S. at least once every 90 days to maintain roaming. Tiered plans exist, including domestic unlimited data, a plan with 1GB for international use, and a global unlimited option, all requiring prepaid commitments.
Furthermore, data speeds on all plans are subject to progressive throttling after 5GB per month, slowing to 100Kbps after 100GB. The use of tethering and hotspot functionality is explicitly forbidden. The EliteBook 6 G2q also includes advanced security features like Wolf Pro Security and TPM Guard. The laptop is slated for release in July 2026.
