Honda has revealed a prototype for its next-generation hybrid sedan at its 2026 global press conference in Japan. This advanced model will feature an all-new twin-motor hybrid system and a next-generation platform, debuting from 2027 onward. Honda projects fuel economy improvements exceeding 10 percent compared to current systems, alongside a significant 30 percent reduction in system costs.
The redesigned hybrid layout aims to optimize engine efficiency across a wider operational range. The new system will also incorporate an electric all-wheel-drive unit, promising highly precise motor control for enhanced traction and handling. Furthermore, Honda plans to introduce its in-house developed advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) across its hybrid line-up starting in 2028, designed to assist drivers on various road types.
The sedan prototype sports a fastback silhouette and styling cues reminiscent of the global-spec Accord, featuring a split headlamp design and a distinctive front grille. While this specific hybrid sedan is not slated for the Indian market, Honda is preparing to expand its SUV offerings in India with new compact and midsize SUV launches planned for 2028.
