EV startup Harbinger has unveiled its second vehicle, the HC Series Cab, a medium-duty work truck. This new model is available as an all-electric or a hybrid with an impressive 500-mile range. Key features include easy entry and exit, a tight turning radius, and adaptable chassis for various upfits.
Founded in 2022, Harbinger has secured substantial funding, including a $100 million Series B in January 2025 and a $160 million Series C in November. The company has attracted major clients such as FedEx and THOR Industries with its larger truck chassis.
Harbinger is also diversifying its business beyond trucks, having launched energy storage products and acquired autonomous vehicle software company Phantom AI. CEO John Harris emphasizes a focused approach and revenue diversification to ensure long-term stability amid market fluctuations.
Harris believes EVs and hybrids are ideal for commercial trucking due to lower total ownership costs and reduced maintenance. Harbinger's vertical integration, with in-house suppliers for batteries, motors, and suspensions, supports its strategy of developing new business lines.
