The highly anticipated Halide Mark III camera app, first announced in December 2024, is now available for iPhone and iPad users. This latest version introduces a compelling new film simulation engine featuring five distinct Looks, co-developed with renowned Hollywood colorist Cullen Kelly. These curated Looks are designed to enhance various photographic styles, including landscapes, portraits, cityscapes, and a unique black-and-white option with added film grain.
Halide Mark III is offered for a one-time purchase of $59.99 or an annual subscription of $19.99. Importantly, it represents a free upgrade for all existing Halide Mark II purchasers. The app requires iOS 18 or later on iPhones and iPadOS 18 or later on iPads.
A notable expansion includes the app's new Photo Lab, a streamlined editor accessible on larger iPad screens. It features a Quick Edit section for applying Looks, adjusting HDR, and modifying exposure. Advanced controls for cropping, aspect ratio, white balance, and a Tone Fusion tool for shadow and highlight recovery are also available.
Furthermore, Halide Mark III now supports the processing of RAW images imported from a range of professional cameras, including those from Sony, Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, and Leica, though this capability is currently in beta. The app's interface has also been redesigned for easier access to critical controls, with an option for users to revert to the Halide Mark II interface if preferred.
