9 Feb
Summary

- The service will reach remote, tribal, and underserved regions.
- It aims to boost digital inclusion and government service delivery.

Gujarat is set to enhance its digital governance by partnering with SpaceX's Starlink to bring high-speed satellite internet to its remote, tribal, and border regions. A Letter of Intent was signed on Monday, February 9, 2026, to deploy broadband services through Common Service Centres, government schools, and health facilities.
This strategic move is expected to significantly advance digital inclusion in aspirational districts and remote areas. It will ensure more efficient government service delivery and bolster connectivity for critical services such as disaster response, wildlife monitoring, and police outposts. The initiative also aims to support education and healthcare access in underserved communities.
Further plans include joint capacity-building programs for government agencies and disaster management teams. A Joint Working Group will be established to oversee the rollout and future expansion of Starlink's services across industrial parks, highway systems, and maritime infrastructure.
