GrapheneOS, known for its privacy-focused Android modifications, is set to broaden its device compatibility beyond Google Pixel phones. Motorola has announced a partnership to provide production support for GrapheneOS on select upcoming devices. This collaboration aims to deliver advanced security features to a wider user base globally.
The initial rollout is anticipated in 2027, targeting flagship Motorola models that meet GrapheneOS's requirements, including hardware memory tagging and timely updates. Devices like the Motorola Signature, razr fold, and razr ultra are expected to be among the first compatible.
Beyond offering GrapheneOS pre-installed, Motorola intends to integrate certain privacy-related features and concepts from the operating system into its primary Android build. This integration will be distinct from the option to run GrapheneOS itself.
Previously exclusive to Google Pixel devices since the Pixel 6 series, GrapheneOS is now making a strategic move with a major original equipment manufacturer (OEM). This expansion signifies a significant step towards making enhanced mobile privacy more accessible.
