On August 20th, 2025, Google unveiled its latest Pixel 10 smartphone lineup, further expanding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The new Pixel 10 models are designed to leverage AI to enhance various aspects of the user experience, from fetching vital information to improving photo quality.
One of the key AI features introduced is "Magic Cue," which is designed to act as a digital mind reader. This feature automatically retrieves and displays relevant information stored on the device, such as flight details from a user's Gmail or calendar, when they are making a call to an airline.
Another AI-powered tool, "Camera Coach," provides real-time suggestions for the best framing and lighting angles as users are taking photos. The premium Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL models also include a "Super Res" option that utilizes a combination of software and AI tricks to enable up to 100x zoom, allowing users to capture intricate details of distant objects.
Google is also offering a free one-year subscription to its AI Pro plan to anyone who purchases the more expensive Pixel 10 Pro or Pixel 10 Pro XL models, in an effort to compete against OpenAI's ChatGPT. The prices of the Pixel 10 lineup remain unchanged from the previous generation, with the basic model starting at $800 and the Pro version priced at $1,000.
While the Pixel smartphone still lags behind the dominance of the iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy models, Google's ongoing advancements in AI technology and its commitment to maintaining competitive pricing are seen as a challenge to Apple's position in the smartphone market.
