Google Wallet Adds EU Digital IDs This Summer
4 Jun
Summary
- Google Wallet will support digital IDs from select EU states starting this summer.
- New age verification feature uses Sparkasse Bank partnership.
- EU customers can use Google Pay with biometric verification.

Google Wallet is set to enhance its functionality by supporting digital IDs from select European Union states, commencing this summer. This expansion will enable users in participating EU countries to securely store and present their digital identification within the app.
In conjunction with this rollout, Google has partnered with Sparkasse Bank to introduce a novel age verification process. This feature, powered by Zero Proof Knowledge technology introduced in April 2025, allows users to confirm their age without disclosing sensitive personal information like their name or birth date.
Furthermore, Google is streamlining the checkout experience for EU customers using Google Pay. Online merchants in the EU will now allow direct checkouts, and a Secure Payment Authentication update means EU users can authenticate purchases with biometrics, bypassing the need for one-time passcodes or separate verification sites.
