Google has significantly expanded the availability of its Search Live feature, making it accessible in more than 200 countries and territories globally. This comes after its initial rollout to all US Google app users in September of last year. Search Live enables users to point their phone's camera at any object or scene and pose questions about it, leveraging AI for real-time information.
The feature has been upgraded to utilize Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash model. This enhancement is expected to deliver more natural conversational experiences, along with improved speed and reliability. The Gemini 3.1 model is also natively multilingual, broadening its utility across diverse user bases.
Users can access Search Live through the main Google app on both Android and iOS platforms by tapping the 'Live' button located beneath the search bar. Alternatively, the feature is integrated into Google Lens, where the 'Live' icon can be found near the bottom of the screen, offering another convenient entry point for visual search queries.
