Google Search Agents: Your 24/7 AI Info Assistant
19 May
Summary
- New AI agents will continuously monitor interests in the background.
- Agents synthesize info, explain relevance, and offer insights, not just links.
- Feature launches this summer for Google AI Pro/Ultra subscribers in the U.S.

At its 2026 Google I/O keynote, Google unveiled a significant advancement in its Search capabilities: AI agents designed for continuous user assistance. These agents will operate around the clock, proactively monitoring topics of interest and keeping users informed without repetitive searching.
Moving beyond simple link delivery, the new agents will synthesize information from diverse sources. They are built to explain why specific information matters, compare different perspectives, and provide actionable insights, marking a substantial evolution from the basic notifications offered by Google Alerts.
Examples of their utility include tracking stock market fluctuations, monitoring flight prices, following sports teams, keeping tabs on housing trends, and staying updated on weather and traffic. Users can activate these agents by initiating AI Mode in Search with specific prompts.
The new information agents are scheduled for release this summer. Availability will first be extended to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States, with broader market releases to follow.
