16 Jul
Summary
- NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook, unifying Google's AI efforts.
- New features include interactive coding execution for data analysis.
- Update is available for specific Google AI Ultra and Workspace plans.

Google has renamed its AI-powered research product, previously known as NotebookLM, to Gemini Notebook. This strategic rebranding aligns the experimental tool more closely with Google's overarching Gemini AI family. The company first introduced NotebookLM, then called Project Tailwind, at Google IO in 2023.
Alongside the name change, Gemini Notebook now includes enhanced interactive capabilities. A key new feature is the integration of coding execution, enabling users to generate and run code for sophisticated data analysis directly within their notebooks. This update is available to paid users of the Google AI Ultra plan and eligible Workspace business customers.
NotebookLM has seen significant growth since its debut, attracting 30 million users and over 600,000 organizations. Over the past three years, its features have expanded to include podcast generation, curated notebooks, video overviews, and support for more file types. Users can already access their notebooks via the Gemini app, with further integration into Search's AI Mode anticipated soon.
