Google Play Unleashes PC Games & Trials
12 Mar
Summary
- Google Play is expanding to include paid and PC indie games.
- New game trials allow users to test games before purchasing.
- A single purchase now grants access to both mobile and PC versions.

At GDC 2026, Google announced significant enhancements to Google Play, positioning it as a premier gaming destination. The platform will soon feature a broader selection of paid and PC indie games, including titles like "Moonlight Peaks" and "Potion Craft."
To assist players in making informed decisions, Google Play is introducing game trials, enabling users to experience games before committing to a purchase. Successful trials can seamlessly transition into full game progress upon buying.
The "buy once, play anywhere" initiative is also launching, allowing a single purchase to grant access to both mobile and PC versions of select games, such as the "Reigns" series.
Furthermore, a dedicated PC section is being added to the Play Store, and a wishlist tool will alert users to sales. Community posts are also being integrated to foster player interaction and support within the app.
Google Play also confirmed the upcoming rollout of Play Games Sidekick, an AI-powered overlay offering real-time gaming assistance. These updates build upon a redesigned Play Games experience introduced six months prior, which centralized stat tracking, rewards, and community features.
