Summary
- Google released the Pixel Tag Bluetooth tracker for Android devices.
- It features ultrawideband for precise location finding, similar to AirTags.
- The Pixel Tag will be available in November for $30.
Google has introduced the Pixel Tag, a Bluetooth tracker that enhances Android's Find Hub network. This new device aims to provide Android users with precise location capabilities, similar to Apple's AirTags. It utilizes ultrawideband technology to help pinpoint the location of tagged items, such as luggage or bicycles.
The Pixel Tag is priced at $30, with a four-pack costing $100, making it competitively priced against similar trackers on the market. While it offers precise finding, it lacks some features found on the Motorola Moto Tag 2, such as a key fob slot and a built-in button to locate a phone.
This tracker boasts a CR2032 coin battery expected to last a year and has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. The biggest hurdle for potential buyers may be availability, as the Pixel Tag is set to be released in November and is not currently available for pre-order.
Unlike Samsung's Galaxy Smart Tag 2, which is exclusive to Galaxy phones, the Pixel Tag is designed to be compatible with any Android phone, broadening its accessibility within the Android ecosystem.
