Video conferencing interoperability between Google Meet and Microsoft Teams is now a reality for businesses with specific hardware. As of today, Google Meet hardware devices can join Microsoft Teams meetings, and Microsoft Teams Rooms devices can join Google Meet meetings. This feature is enabled by default for Google Meet admins but can be disabled if needed.
For organizations utilizing conference room hardware from these tech giants, this development significantly eases inter-company communication. The rollout for end-users begins on February 16, allowing one-click access via calendar or meeting ID. This expansion of interoperability, which Teams already offers with platforms like Zoom, aims to boost Google Meet's versatility and break down platform-based communication hurdles.
