Google Meet Arrives on Apple CarPlay

Google Meet is now accessible via Apple CarPlay, enabling drivers to join virtual meetings directly from their vehicle's integrated display. This new feature prioritizes safety by offering audio-only participation, with video and advanced functionalities such as chat or polls being unavailable. Users can join meetings on the road and manage basic call functions like muting or ending the call. The integration automatically routes audio through the car's speakers, seamlessly switching back to the phone or earbuds when disconnected from CarPlay.

This move marks a significant step in bringing productivity tools to the driving experience. While currently exclusive to the Apple ecosystem, Google has stated that support for Android Auto is forthcoming. The company has not yet offered a specific release window for the Android Auto integration. The CarPlay version is enabled by default for users with Google Meet installed on their iPhones, providing a more convenient and less distracting way to stay connected during commutes.
