- Gemini Spark planned a birthday party by accessing personal data.
- The AI bot made a guest list based on email and document scans.
- Google's AI agent launched as a beta for AI Ultra plan subscribers.

Google recently unveiled Gemini Spark, an AI agent designed to connect with personal data, manage online tasks, and automate daily interactions. This tool is Google's response to the popular OpenClaw agent, which gained traction earlier in 2026. Early users of such agents often granted them extensive access to their personal information for scheduling and messaging automation, sometimes leading to humorous errors.
In a test of Gemini Spark, the AI was granted access to personal Gmail, Docs, and Calendar. When prompted to help plan a birthday party, it identified an existing karaoke bar reservation, drafted a detailed five-page itinerary, and generated a guest list. The AI's guest list, derived from email and document analysis, included 15 individuals, identifying a partner as a "close friend and frequent companion."
This AI agent, launched as a beta for subscribers of Google's AI Ultra plan at $100 per month, operates within the Gemini chatbot. Users can issue "tasks" rather than prompts, with Spark able to create calendar events and send approved emails. It can also use a remote browser for internet tasks, although it encountered glitches when attempting to book dinner reservations.
Gemini Spark’s suggestions for post-party venues were exclusively gay bars, which the AI explained was due to the direct mention of these specific venues and related events in the user's Google Workspace history. The AI also drafted an email invitation with a tone deemed too formal for the event. While users can upload custom skills, the agent’s outputs revealed both the potential for hyper-specific personalization with extensive data access and a surprising lack of common sense, as it struggled to define a close personal relationship despite having full context.
