AI Notetaker Expands Beyond Google Meets
22 Apr
Summary
- Gemini now summarizes in-person, Zoom, and Teams meetings.
- Feature works for impromptu meetings without a room.
- Notes and action items saved directly to Google Drive.

Google's AI notetaker, Gemini, is now more versatile, extending its reach beyond Google Meets. The tool can now create summaries and transcripts for in-person meetings, as well as those conducted on Zoom and Microsoft Teams. This expansion means users can leverage Gemini's AI capabilities for a wider range of professional discussions.
Previously, support for in-person meetings was restricted to alpha testers and limited to Android devices. Now, users can initiate note-taking from the Google Meet mobile or desktop app by selecting 'take notes for me.' This feature is available for both scheduled and impromptu meetings, even if not conducted in a formal meeting room.
Upon completion, Gemini generates a summary, including key action items, which are then saved in a Google Doc within the user's Google Drive. This integration streamlines the process of documenting and distributing meeting outcomes.
