Google AI Health Advice Under Fire

Google has apparently begun removing AI Overviews that provided inaccurate health-related information after an investigation highlighted the issue. The company's AI had offered misleading responses to queries about normal ranges for liver blood tests, failing to account for crucial demographic factors.

While the AI Overviews for specific liver test queries have been removed, variations of the search terms may still generate AI summaries. Google stated it does not comment on individual removals but works on broad improvements, with an internal review finding some information was not inaccurate and was supported by reputable websites.

Despite the removals, concerns persist regarding the broader implications of AI-generated health information. A British Liver Trust representative noted that while this specific issue is resolved, it doesn't address the larger concern of AI Overviews for general health queries.
